Yes, LibreQDA is completely free and open-source. You can use it for academic research, personal projects, or commercial purposes without any licensing fees.

This instance of LibreQDA is maintained by the Plateforme en humanités numériques (Université de Sherbrooke) does not require any installation and runs entirely in your browser. However, advanced users with specific needs can install LibreQDA on their machine or deploy a server.

When using this instance of LibreQDA (libreqda.org), your data is stored on a Canadian university server — specifically, a Calcul Québec supercomputer housed at École de technologie supérieure (Montréal). Keep in mind that this may differ if you use a version of LibreQDA hosted by someone else.

Chromium-based browsers are best supported at the time (e.g. Chromium, Brave). Firefox is not fully supported.

One size never fits all, so we try to keep it simple. If you find that some of your complex use cases aren't covered, you might turn to other tools that fit your methods.
